Ethics Complaint Process Information

Ethics Complaint Process

When situations arise from real estate transactions that cause misunderstandings or difficulties between other real estate professionals or members of the public, the Space Coast Association of REALTORS® is obligated to ensure our members uphold and abide by the Articles of the Code of Ethics. The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual impose duties above and in addition to those imposed by law or regulation, and applies ONLY to those real estate professionals who choose to become REALTORS®.

If you believe a REALTOR® member may have potentially violated one or more articles of the NAR Code of Ethics, and the situation has not been handled satisfactorily by an agent or broker, you may opt to file a Complaint with the local association.

Any person, whether a REALTOR® member, non-member sales agent, or member of the public, may file a complaint. The complaint must be in writing, using the proper forms, stating the facts on which it is based. Complaints must be received by the Space Coast Association of REALTORS® within one hundred eighty (180) days after the conclusion of the transaction or event, or within one hundred eighty (180) days after the facts constituting the matter could have been known in the exercise of reasonable diligence, whichever is later.

For more information on filing an Ethics complaint, contact the Space Coast Association of REALTORS® Office of Professional Standards via email or at (321) 242-2211.
