About Code of Ethics Biennial Training
Code of Ethics training provides an in-depth look at the professional responsibilities and standards that REALTORS® are held to by their colleagues, clients and the public. In addition, Code of Ethics training is a mandatory requirement for Space Coast Association REALTORS®.
Moreover, Ethics is a Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) requirement. Florida state requirements dictate that licensees who hold a license that expires on or after September 30, 2018 must have 14 CE hours consisting of 3 hours of law, 3 hours of ethics, and 8 hours of specialty education. Licensees who hold a license that expires before September 30, 2018 require 14 CE hours consisting of 3 hours of law and 11 specialty hours.
Space Coast Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics Training
1. What is Biennial Code of Ethics Training?
Biennial Code of Ethics training teaches REALTORS® how to practice real estate in the most ethical way possible and the actions taken when ethics are in question. Through analyzing case studies, REALTORS® will learn or revisit the fundamentals of how certain processes work, such as complaint and hearing procedures.
2. Who needs Biennial Code of Ethics Training?
Code of Ethics training is a National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) requirement for all members.
3. How do I complete Code of Ethics Training?
- Code of Ethics training can be completed a number of different ways:
- Attend New Member Orientation
- Attend an in-person Code of Ethics class
- Attend a Professional Standards Annual Training Course
- Complete an online Code of Ethics course
4. When do I need to complete Biennial Code of Ethics Training?
Biennual Code of Ethics training for the cycle that began on January 1, 2017 must be completed by December 31, 2018. Those who do not meet the requirement may have their status suspended.

What does it mean if I'm in compliance?
If you are documented as in compliance, it means we have you on record as being current for this two-year cycle. You do not need to take Code of Ethics at this time as you have fulfilled the requirement.
What if I am not documented as in compliance?
We do not have you listed as having met the course requirements for this two-year cycle. If you have met this requirement, please provide your course completion certificate to the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®. Documents may be emailed, faxed or mailed to the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®. Our contact information is below:
